Fundraising for Upcoming Capital Campaign
Thank you to everyone who filled our a capital needs survey! The results are being compiled any will help the Building and Grounds committee identify and prioritize all known capital needs projects. We are grateful for your help in that effort!
As we look toward a Capital Campaign in 2026, the Building and Grounds (B&G) Committee has identified an organization, the National Fund for Sacred Places (NFSP), that provides financial assistance to churches like ours for restoration and rehabilitation projects. A grant from NFSP would not cover all the work we need to do, but it would partially cover many of the larger projects. They will provide 50% of the funding required and the congregation has to provide the other 50%. The types of projects NFSP will partially fund include stucco work, replacing the two sets of exterior doors, and renovating the bathrooms. We will have to separately fund the resurfacing of the parking lot and landscaping.
B&G recommends WPC launch a Capital Campaign in two phases: Phase One to commence early next year for the parking lot and landscaping as well as some smaller projects; and Phase Two to commence when/if our application to NSFP is approved next October. Phase One is estimated to cost at least $75,000 and Phase Two between $125,000 and $150,000. WPC will be hiring a general contractor to oversee both projects.
B&G will provide more information in the coming weeks as we continue to seek out additional funding sources.
