Baptism of the Lord Sunday

We celebrated Baptism of the Lord Sunday at Westminster with a worship service full of joy! We welcomed new member Bill Snead, ordained and installed Liz Rickert as Ruling Elder, and installed Sylvia Graft and Liz Ethelbah as Deacons.

All these actions - joining the church, and being ordained and installed - are a reminder of the promises made at Baptism. And on Baptism of the Lord Sunday, everyone gathered also remembered their own baptism, as Madeline took the bowl from the font into the  midst of the congregation for the practice of ‘aspersion’, or sprinkling baptismal water. As drops of water landed on heads and faces, everyone was reminded: “remember your baptism and be thankful.”
